俗説に反して、猫の毛はアレルギー反応の原因ではありません。

猫の唾液腺と皮脂腺（皮膚）で産生されたアレルゲンが、猫アレルギーのある人にアレルギー反応を誘発します1～3。

猫がグルーミングする時にこのアレルゲンが毛や皮膚に付着します。そして毛やふけが環境へと拡散し、アレルゲンが拡がります。猫の毛はアレルゲンを運びますが、毛自体が猫アレルギーを誘発する直接の原因ではありません。

猫アレルギーのある人のほとんどは、「Fel d 1」として知られる、1つのアレルゲンに反応している場合が一般的です 1,4。


  • Fel d 1は、猫の唾液腺、皮脂腺（皮膚）、肛門腺で産生されます1,5,6。
  • Fel d 1は、猫のグルーミングにより毛や皮膚に付着し、その後抜けた毛やフケにより家中に拡がります1,2,5,7,8。
